Where Fake News Comes From
I went into this project thinking that the answer to this question would be a list of company names that can not be trusted.
The truth though, is that the source of "fake news" is always changing, as it can come from anywhere. There are some websites and social media accounts which are known for consciously spreading fake news, but I wanted to know about the widely popular companies that advertise as being trustworthy. Here are some places "fake news" comes from.

There are some websites and social media accounts which are known for consciously spreading fake news, but I wanted to know about the widely popular companies that advertise as being trustworthy. Here are some places "fake news" comes from.
1. Tabloid Headlines |
Headlines aren't always great at expressing truth, yet so many people fall for their unbelievable content. Examples of this can be seen far and wide in places like Facebook and Twitter, as well as magazines and their websites.
Tabloid headlines display the truth that media companies want viewers more than they want to be honest.
2. Satire Websites
Satire news is most commonly seen on social media, which are news platforms, not news publishers.
3. Fake News from 'Real News' Sources
Though it is not the most common occurrence of fake news, this is perhaps the most dangerous to the public. For example, when a popular news network gives a false statistic, the American people might take it as fact. The truth is that when actual false reporting is done, people lose their jobs and the company suffers monetary consequences. It seems that this kind of news is actually far more rare than people make it out to be. |
So yes, fake news can come from CNN, FOX, and many other places, but calling FOX "fake news" doesn't exactly solve anything.
